On the heels of the news that New York’s Board of Regents unanimously passed new regulations preventing teachers from restraining students face down or isolating them alone in rooms they can’t leave, a webinar from the New York Association on Independent Living will share information on the issue.
Prior to the Board of Regents regulations, the legislator passed the Keeping NY Students Safe Act which looks at the banning of these practices. Laura Marks, staff attorney with Disability Rights NY will discuss the importance of the new legislation and how advocates can support the changes.
